or shortcut to bypass the pain
and no matter how dark it might seem
a choice has to be made
whether you will keep fighting forward
for your own survival
or whether you will throw in the towel
give into the pain
to numb the feeling forever
of having to endure
that which has caused you enormous grief
yet it’s never as simple as people believe it to be
